The theme is not up to date with current screen resolution.
Maybe should we use a more basic theme like the sphinx one and maybe then customize it a little.

EDIT: Hum the sphinx theme is outdated too... I'm wondering if there are more modern themes with read the docs.

It'd definitely be good to update it, at very least to give us more width now we have wider / more complex PHP code blocks - I noticed today they were quite constrained.

There are also some types of content (tables, for e.g.) that have only basic support in our CSS - I had to hack some in for the releases page, but a newer / more-complete theme e.g. RTD might improve things out of the box.

I don't know what other options are out there. If there's nothing easy to migrate to then even just hacking our CSS to increase the widths would probably be quite a big improvement for limited effort.

I have to admit that my Read the Docs knowledge is close to zero, so can't help much here
