Hook into Symfony Events

Is there a way to listen for a step / suite event with a Symfony listener/subscriber?

I opened an issue on behat (Behat/Behat#1450) but this functionality seems to have been removed in behat 3, so I thought maybe there's something similar here, since I'll be using Symfony to respond to the event.
