High speed PCI-E interconnect of SBCs would open a lot of new perspectives.

For physically interconnect two SBCs, there could be several possibilities to explore:

using M.2 to Oculink SFF-8612 adapters connected via a Oculink SFF-8611 cable (crossover?)
using M2. to SFF-8644 adapters and a SFF-8644 cable (crossover?)
using a Thunderbolt.

This would also require a host-to-host connectivity support for PCI-E.
