Can the hero block be disabled?

I just upgraded my Lychee from 4.5 to the latest 5.2.2 and was a bit suprised by the new design. In particular, there seems to be a "hero" block at the top of leaf albums (albums without subalbums, or maybe it is triggered by something else - the code checks for $this->AlbumFormatted->url !== null), which displays just the title and album date, and then a whole lot of nothing. It has the h-1/2 CSS class, so it takes up half of the screen.

I'm probably misunderstanding how this is supposed to look. Maybe there's a bug? This discussion suggests that he hero block is supposed to show a random image, but that does not seem to happen (for me, or the demo install). *edit: I've seen this work one time, after a browser restart, but trying again showed nothing again).

Even if that would indeed show a random image, I'd rather not have this hero image and use all screen space to show actual image thumbnails. Is this configurable somehow?

Ah, found it: Setting use_album_compact_header=1 helped. Took some grepping around the source to find it, since I was looking for config directives about "hero", not "header" :-)
