Challenge Creation Team
Since we are organizing this at the start of the semester for all SoC students (most of which may not have experience in security), let's aim to make this CTF approachable and educational 🤓 !
Categories
If you have any other ideas, please feel free to say so too.
Guidelines :
No guessing
Try making the challenges as clear as possible, so that the participants can spend time on learning, and not on guessing what they need to do.
Scope
Try to limit the scope of each challenge (i.e. types of tricks / vulnerabilities / exploit techniques) to 1 or 2, so that participants can focus on one clear objective.
Rewarding
Aim to let the participants feel that they learnt and enjoyed a lot from the challenges.
Difficulty
Let's aim to have a good mix of easy (for those new to security) and hard (for the prizes) challenges.
70 (easy) : 30 (hard) would be good.
Timeline
Don't want to rush last minute work so:
By 28/6 - Challenge Ideas
Can also start building your challenge once you are ready!
By 14/7 - Challenges should be done
So that we can test early and get feedback from each other!
By 28/7 - Finish testing
Get ready for the CTF!
15/8 - Tentative CTF date
To host the best CTF ever seen in NUS in August 2021!
Getting Started 👍
Once you have an idea, go ahead to the issues page and create an issue with your challenge idea. Don't forget to add the Category, Implementation and Status tags!
Any issue format is fine, as long as the idea is clear. Here's an example at #1.
If you want to test anyone's challenges, feel free to assign yourself to that issue!
