Given that kmeans' running time depends both on the number of representatives and the number of centroids queried, a fixed timeout is probably unreasonable for this specific request. As an example, requesting 15 centroids with 1000 representatives takes 264 066 ms, whereas requesting 5 centroids for 400 representatives takes around 34 000 ms.
For this reason, it might be better to either have an adaptive timeout for kmeans, or simply none at all.
