Covariates for the combined eQTL analysis

Thanks for your great paper!

Covariates for the combined eQTL analysis, covariates includes sex,peer factors and others,but the age are excluded.
Corrplot showing the correlation between all the covariates used to detect eQTLs, in Supplementary Figures.Age and sex show similar correlation with PEER factors.Why sex is included,and age is excluded?
