Other countries have wine regions and similar datasets could exist for these places. Al Dynak sent Michele an email asking about these and suggested these datasets:

Can we find similar datasets for Spain, the rest of France, Canada, maybe Mexico?

France:
The INAO is the agency responsible for agricultural products. https://www.inao.gouv.fr/eng/
Products can be searched at https://www.inao.gouv.fr/eng/Espace-professionnel-et-outils/Search-a-product.
For wine: Appellations, Denominations, Products.
The individual product pages have the information. For example, Côtes du Rhône rouge.
The agency published a SHP zip of the wine regions to data.gov.fr.
