To give users the ability to scroll through through a list of checkbox filters. This includes:
a scrollable list within each filter category, so multiple checkboxes can be selected
a filter search function, allowing users to narrow down the checkbox options. Checkboxes will be displayed only if they match the user's input or have already been selected.
Why
Scrollable checkbox filters are based on the GOV.UK component called ‘option select’, which is commonly used in GOV.UK search filters. Despite this component being available for development, there is not a discussion/ backlog item dedicated to this (to my knowledge).
In internal caseworking products, where data heavy datasets/ tables are used, filters are regulary required to narrow down data sets and navigate to certain data elements.
It would be good to know if there is a case for this to be in the HO design system.
