I'm not super confident in running this type of transformation as a build step and would rather have my code be compatible directly. Do you see any way this could be hooked into eslint somehow?

Seems like a challenge) I think it's possible to wrap this lib as eslint-plugin. I will try to find time for this experiment during the winter holidays.
