Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
The default settings in a template configuration file could be more user friendly.

Describe the solution you'd like
update append = False and tmp_dir = '.' by default.

Additional context
If tmp_dir = Null is not updated, the temporary datafiles will fail to concat at the end of data extraction.
