enabling export

I've flashed my vue and got everything working, however, I realise this is probably a real silly question but the section for export/return to grid, where does this need to be added? Do i need to replace the sensor section on the code(which i have attempted but cant get it to compile) or does it go in home assistant config/template? and the second bit also?
