There could be a simple plugin which is connected to the clapdb server and automatically checks CLAP feature support of a host it's loaded into.
The process could look like this:
check the host's CLAP version
lookup which feature set is potentially available for that CLAP version (online and/or cached)
ask the host about its name and version and which of the version's CLAP features it currently supports
show the collected host information to the user
let the user send it to the clapdb server
The other way round should work as well. (a host that checks the features of a CLAP plugin)
This way clapdb could easily build a database of plugin/host versions including the set of supported features. In the end this would allow users to check version and feature compatibility of specific host/plugin (version) combinations.
E.g. "If I buy CLAP plugin XY now... which CLAP feature/extensions will I be able to use if I load it into my current DAW version?"
