In some labs I have been working (with human data) it has been noted that some GO terms are not descriptive of the process (BP) the genes are carrying out in their specific experiments. As the bioinformatician performing the analysis and more familiar with the ontology I thought I could contribute with some feedback and suggestions to improve this great resource.
The FAQ mentions "contribute something",
But is it related to an annotation database or just some feedback?
How do I become a member of the GO Consortium?
The most important criterion for GO Consortium membership is that the members contribute something to the collection of resources that we make available to the public (almost all members contribute annotations; several contribute to the ontologies; a few contribute software). The scientists involved in working with GO in these member groups communicate via the GO mailing lists and GitHub to discuss development issues in the ontologies.
In addition, I would like to know what commitment means to become a GO member? From those onboarding issues I see that one becomes registered in some mailing lists, and presumably might be invited to some meetings. Does the onboarding process provide more additional help/documentation for new members?

However, it is not clear to me whether to contribute I need to open a new issue with my feedback, as per the website, or open a new issue for "New Member Onboarding Information".
