Im getting this error
This version of ownCloud is not compatible with PHP 7.1.
You are currently running 7.1.1. Please use at least ownCloud 9.2.0

was working fine a couple of months ago. had to rebuild.

You can specify some older version instead of picking up the latest. Tag 9.1.2-1 worked for me.
It has some problems with getting Let's Encrypt certificates, but even this can be fixed as described by @jswetzen in #112
