Converting gitignore to megaignore #1030
Comments
Hello! We have studied your request and will investigate whether there are enough users demanding this functionality. We will implement metrics in order to have an answer as soon as possible. Kind regards. |
Hello and thank you for your kind reply.
I think it will be great because lots of programmers use github and it will
be great if we have a copy of our code on mega.nz as well
and i tried to make chatgpt to do that for me but i had to teach him first
and he forgets every time and honestly it will be great.
by the way mega is great and thank you in advance for this great service.
Best regards.

This could/should be done as a standalone applet; as it's not really part of the core function, it would clutter the UI. If we're going down the road of having features like this, perhaps there should be a "MEGASyncUtils" (or similar) package that contains convenience scripts for power users? |
hello, I've developed git2megaignore, a Rust CLI tool that aims to do just that, convert .gitignore files to .megaignore, I've introduced it in another issue here, or you can just check out the repository. |
Hi there!
I want to have a copy of my repositories on mega.nz and i want gitignore rules to be applied as well.
is there or will it be there a tool that converts gitignore files to megaignore files automatically?
you should consider including gitignore file as well.
Thanks a lot.
