rec vs recording?

Is there a reason why mne-bids shortens the recording field to 'rec', while all examples in the specification writes the full 'recording?

I only just realized it from reading BEP 20, where a specific value for 'recording' is required.

I suppose we confused it with rec for "reconstruction"
