For volumes of multi-volume books that have a volume title and a maintitle, the volume number is listed twice (and italicized both times):
Kiparsky, V. (1979). Russian historical grammar. Vol. 1. The development of the sound system (J. I. Press,
Trans.; Vol. 1). Ardis.
Patz, E. (1991). Djabugay. In R. M. W. Dixon & B. J. Blake (Eds.), The handbook of Australian languages.
Vol. 4. The aboriginal language of Melbourne and other grammatical sketches (pp. 245–347, Vol. 4).
Oxford University Press.
According to APA7, the volume number in such cases should only be listed in the middle of the title, not in parentheses.
Thank you!
