My only question-- and it seems unlikely given the context of our templates-- is if there is any use case for proper use of the GUID with RSS feeds. Most times people misuse them not knowing the purpose, but there is purpose. |

When is there a proper time to use them? |

And if there is, it's probably filter territory to enable. |

It is designed to be a permanent identifier so feed readers know which posts you've read. [Note that the readers don't care that it's a URL and don't base their logic on the URL you've visited, afaik. Thus, if the URL structure changes in the future the GUID should not. Feed readers will still know if you've read a post or not despite the URL changing] |

And I'd definitely agree that it shouldn't be there by default, regardless. Improper use of guid is widespread. |

Easy enough to filter in the use of it. Nice to know what it's for, too. |

What do you think about actually controlling the depth of recursion, like we do with REST API? They could increase it if they want but by default the depth would be only 2 levels? |
