Repeatable Field Groups #7238

Hi there, It's been quite some time since this feature was first discussed back in December 2023 and even more in #6604 with the last update there in 2022, over 2 years ago, and it's concerning that there hasn't been significant movement on repeatable field groups. While simple repeatable fields are useful, the real value and flexibility come from being able to create repeatable field groups. This is a feature that could significantly enhance how Pods is used for structured content. Implementing repeatable field groups would provide a more intuitive experience for both developers and end users, making it easier to manage content directly within a single post or entry. It would also open up a variety of use cases, like creating lists of links or contact information, without requiring external relationships. It’s disappointing that this has been stalled, especially considering the amount of groundwork already laid as evidenced here: #6604 . A simple cap on the number of fields in a group could address any concerns about performance or complexity. It would be great to hear from the team on where things stand, if there are any roadblocks, and whether this can be prioritized in upcoming releases. The community clearly sees the value in this, and we'd appreciate an update. Thanks! |

I have seen that in Pods 2.9 repeatable feidls where added. This is great and I use it frequently.
To exstend upon this idea, it would be great to have the ability of repeatable groups. Now I dont necessarrily means groups currently in pods but a collection of fields that can be repeated.
For example I want to create a repeatable field group of a website link and a website name. In this scenario I would just add a group, add the text field type and then add a website field type and switch the group to repeatable.
Now I know the argument against this feature is: "You can already do this by using a relationship" and while that is true to some degree, it is not as "Simple" or as elegant as Repeatable field groups. If people are worried about repeatable field groups then having a limit of 5 fields per group could be a way to control the fears.
