Current Debian version has some (to my understanding hard to reproduce) bugs and update to newer version might solve them. There are two options bookworm backports or separate puavo-pkg installer.

You write about updating Lazarus in Puavo for a newer version but I can't find the current version.
Yes, there are some teachers who want Lazarus to teach programming with Pascal and I can't say why. The current Lazarus in the Debian distributions are really old ... for Bullseye (v2.0.10) and for Bookworm (v.2.2.6). But Lazarus with Bookworm backports (v3.0) is old. The current Lazarus version is v3.6 and you will get it in Debian distribution with trixie. https://packages.debian.org/de/trixie/lazarus
Looking on the offical Lazarus page https://www.lazarus-ide.org/ there you will find the official current verion v3.6. Could ist be easier to have a sevarate puavo-pkg installer and use the official sources?
