Is there a way to highlight the buffer name instead of displaying a Git sign icon? For instance, if a buffer is marked as GitAdded, I would like the BufferCurrent to be highlighted with green text color instead of having a Git sign beside the buffer name.

No it's not possible, but PR welcome if you're interested in implementing the feature.
