Hi all,

So, believe me...I have googled the hell out of this subject hoping to find the answer to my problem without having to bother everyone here. Unfortunately, nothing I have tried has worked so far. I will go through exactly what is happening with the systems I am using and what I have already tried along with a couple of photos.

I have been attempting to get ETC EOS Nomad software to communicate with the Hue Bridge using DMX-Hue. It took me many days to get it to finally work on my MacBook Pro Max M1. Big smile on my face!! But...then I attempted the exact same setup (same network cables, same node and npm versions, same IP addresses) on a Mac Mini M2 and no matter what I try, I cannot get the Bridge to show up in DMX-Hue.

Step by step:

  • removed any versions of NODE and/or NPM that might have already been on both these machines, and deleted the NPM cache
  • downloaded and installed Node.js v23.3.0 (as sudo user) which included npm v10.9.0
  • updated npm using "npm install -g npm" to get it up to v10.9.2
  • took quite a while to get the MacBook to recognize the bridge, and then to finally get ETC Nomad to work with it
  • MacBook Pro Max M1 does not have a network port, so I use a USB-C hub with LAN port
  • I copied literally ALL settings of the network adapters including using the same external USB-C hub with LAN. Both machines using static IP addresses (192.168.1.254) connected to an ASUS router (192.168.1.1) and the Hue Bridge (192.168.1.151). Both with the exact same subnet (255.255.255.0) and the same gateway (192.168.1.1). Both machines have exactly the same node and npm versions.
  • I also made certain that both machines have "usr/local/bin" in the $path
  • No matter how many times I exit terminal, reboot the mac mini, reboot the bridge; the bridge never shows up in the Mac Mini. However, I can literally unplug the USB-C hub and move it back to the MacBook Pro Max M1 and I can see the Bridge in Terminal and start up DMX-Hue without issues.

Does anyone have ANY ideas or suggestions of things I may have forgotten?? Just as an FYI...with my iPhone on the router's wifi, I can see the bridge and control the Hue lights connected to the bridge without issue. Same for the MacBook Pro Max M1. I can start up DMX-Hue and then start up my ETC Nomad lighting software and output cues without issue.

See attached images. Let me know if you see something I am missing. Or something that maybe I should try??

I would love for this to work as I want to use 7 of my Hue Bulbs for a fine arts school's musical in the spring of 2025.

Thanks so much for any help you can offer!

Darren
