Adding page numbers to the bottom of each page, and also referencing the page number within the table of contents would surely be a nice addition for people who really want to print hardcopies of the documentation.
But even if viewing the PDF, this would make it feel even more like a genuine document.
Any thoughts or plans on this?
I might be willing to contribute this feature also.

If you need more control over the PDF layout, I recommend the [mkdocs-with-pdf](https://github.com/orzih/mkdocs-with-pdf) plugin.
If you want to print pretty hardcopies, I think that plugin is a better fit.
I vaguely remember trying to add page numbers to the PDF using CSS/js and failing. Would be very cool if you manage to get it to work (without adding very heavy dependencies like pandoc of course)
