Hello, I recall from the developer meeting that one goal the team has is to increase communication with the community. I am wondering what is the best way to communicate with the leads and contribute to the project. Thanks.

Hi Jacob,
I think this depends on what you are trying to accomplish.

Do you want to do an external scientific collaboration as an academic or a full research project as a student?
In that case it's probably best to formally propose your idea either to Prof. Blaise Tine or Prof. Hyesoon Kim. The best approach is an email and if you want to discuss it you can bring it up in the developer meeting. The Professors will follow up with the next steps.
On top of that it is a good idea to open an issue if you want other people to be aware of your project while you are working on it.

If you have smaller contributions which don't significantly change the course of the project then open issues or pull requests.
To be fair going through those might take some time.
The Vortex research team is fairly small and there is an even smaller number of outside contributors (like me) that are trusted to review and merge pull requests. You seem like a motivated student and I hope you'll become one of the contributors.

Hello, thanks for responding. I am doing a research project with professor Nowatzki at UCLA using vortex. I also took Professor Tine's GPU microarchitecture class last quarter and discussed it with him then. I'd like to just merge the new regression test I have created and then work off a new fork after. I'd also like to make a new pull request to fix some bugs in a few of the tests (the float generator returns an int).

Hello again! I decided to remake my pull request to be alot cleaner, hopefully this helps with the review. Please let me know fi this can be merged, and if so I also plan to contribute a few fixes to some of the other regression tests.
