Config Portal

Accessing Config portal:

A) Local network

You can access Nick on your local network simply by entering it's IP address. You can find the IP in your router's list of devices or you can enable "Show IP address after reset" option in the Config portal. This will show last segment of the clock's local IP address. This option is very helpful and I suggest to have it enabled so you don't have to search for the address in your router.

B) Access point

If Nick can't connect to your wifi or the wifi credentials are not set, it will fall into Config mode for 5 minutes. See https://github.com/mcer12/Nick-ESP8266/wiki/First-run for more. If it reaches the timeout, Nick will fall into Failed mode with red light on. To start config portal again, simply disconnect and reconnect power.

Some suggestions

  1. Cathode poisoning prevention - I suggest to use the most aggressive version (60s every hour + 10min after 2AM). It will run through least used digits for the given time.
  2. I suggest to enable "Show IP after every reset", this will help you with finding your Nick's IP address.
  3. If you want to check if all digits work properly, use option "Cycle through digits after every reset".
  4. Timezones - I think this one is self explanatory, just don't forget to enter the offsets in minutes, not hours :)
