UltiMaker Cura is an open-source slicing application for 3D printers. Cura has been a go-to slicer for millions of people for nearly a decade. Itβs used worldwide by makers, hobbyists, professionals, and educators, to make amazing creations on the spot. And if you see this, itβs a safe guess that you use Cura for your 3D printing needs as well π.
Our in-house team is focused on the professional engineer, who is the main customer of UltiMaker, but because of the LGPLv3 license, a thriving community has been introducing new 3D printers, translations, plugins, features, and bug fixes on a regular basis. These volunteers come from all over the world to help make our software better by reporting bugs or even contributing code. In 2017, we started with a small userbase, but we now have over 5 million weekly slices and growing. π
We believe that software should be free to be used by anyone, and we want to ensure that it is kept that way, independent of the profit of our 3D printer-manufacturing company. The team that develops Cura consists of engineers, designers, testers, and more collaborators, located in an office between cherry trees in the Netherlands. Your donation empowers their work. πͺ
With your donations, we can continue to:
- Develop new features, and provide the build and download infrastructure. π§βπ»
- Fixing bugs, reviewing and implementing contributions submitted from the community. πͺ²
- Improving documentation and writing instructions that can help anyone to get started to contribute π
- Pay it forward to our volunteers and give donations to libraries we depend on π
- Spend more time interacting with the community on GitHub π
- Set out a plate of cookies for the developers in the office to increase their efficiency πͺ
If you like UltiMaker Cura, you can show your support with whatever you can miss. Every little bit helps. π€
