How to freeze a receipt

Here's how:

Freeze an existing receipt by using the 'freeze' action of the d3 command, with the basename of the receipt you want to freeze.

To freeze a receipt immediately upon installation, use the --freeze / -F option when installing.

Examples:

sudo d3 freeze filemaker
sudo d3 install sketchup-pro-16.0.2-1 --freeze

Discussion:

Frozen receipts are ignored during the auto-update part of the sync process. As such, a frozen receipt will never be automatically updated when there's a newer live package on the server.

This can be useful for piloting, or for holding groups of machines at a specific edition, while letting others stay up to date with the live package.

d3admin can be used to report about computers with frozen receipts.
